Queen Victoria's Custard Creams

This half term, the Year 6s have been learning all about the Victorians, covering everything from Queen Victoria herself, to inventions of that time, including the award-winning Custard Cream. The first Custard Cream was made here in Birmingham during the Victorian era, so over the last 2 weeks, our Year 6 children have had a DT project whereby they have researched existing Custard Creams on the market, tasting them and looking at their packaging, before designing their own biscuit and eventually baking them! All of the children got involved with making the biscuit dough, and stencilling their own design onto the biscuit before baking them. The overall opinion was that they were even tastier than the shop-bought ones!
