  • The Big Survey

    Published 08/07/26

    Dear Parents and Carers,

We are supporting an important national survey called The Big Future, led by the Children’s Commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza. This survey gives children and young people across England the chance to share their views, experiences, and hopes for the future.

As we approach the final weeks of the academic year, this is a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on what matters most to them. The survey invites children aged 0–18 to talk about what they enjoy, the challenges they face, the changes they would like to see in their communities, and what they think a good childhood should look like today.

We would be very grateful if you could encourage your child to take part. You can access the survey here:

    http://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture

Taking part helps ensure that young people’s voices are heard and represented in national decision-making. The findings will be published next year and will help shape conversations about children’s lives and futures for years to come

  • Pupils of the Week

    Published 03/07/26

Each week, during our Friday Achievement assembly, we celebrate our ‘Pupils of the Week’ from each year group. Pupils are recognised for this weekly award for a variety of reasons and are nominated by their class teacher. They may have excelled in a particular subject through the week; may have shown one, or more, of the school values in abundance, or they may have impressed their teacher, or other staff members with a huge amount of effort. Whatever they are nominated for, they are recognised in the whole school achievement assembly, receive a certificate to take home and get to wear one of our prestigious black and gold t-shirts.
During the assembly, we also celebrate children who have 100% attendance for the week and have been in school every day on time. A lucky dip, of all children who are eligible takes place, and one pupil walks away with £5 to spend on whatever they want, Standards and presentation of a child’s book, chosen at random, are also reviewed and celebrated with the school and the child, whose book has been chosen, has the chance to win a dip out of the basket of goodies, as long as they have used their best handwriting every day, completed their feed forward marking and taken care in the presentation of their date and learning objective. We are extremely proud of all of the efforts of our pupils and the Friday Achievement assembly recognises this pride.

Our weekly winners this week are:

    Noah - REB

Our Reception children had a fantastic day on their school trip to Hatton Country World, enjoying a fun-filled day of learning and adventure.

The children loved exploring the farm, where they met a variety of friendly farm animals and even had the opportunity to feed some of them. They also enjoyed a hands-on animal experience, holding guinea pigs and learning about a fascinating selection of reptiles. A tractor ride around the farm was a particular highlight, giving everyone the chance to see even more of the countryside.

The fun continued with exciting fairground rides, bouncy castles and a visit to the falconry, where the children enjoyed seeing a range of magnificent birds of prey up close. To round off the day, everyone had a wonderful time climbing, sliding and playing in the soft play area.

Throughout the trip, the children demonstrated excellent behaviour, curiosity and enthusiasm, embracing every new experience and making lots of wonderful memories. It was a fantastic day filled with fun, learning and smiles all round!

Excitement, teamwork, and a sense of adventure filled the air last week as Year 5 pupils embarked on an unforgettable residential trip to the breathtaking landscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia National Park). The action-packed visit gave pupils the chance to step outside the classroom and into the wild, with activities ranging from sandy seaside exploration to thrilling mountain adventures.

The trip began with a visit to Black Rock Sands, where pupils swapped school shoes for bare feet as they explored the wide, open beach. With its unique feature allowing vehicles on the sand, the area provided a striking backdrop for games, sandcastle building, and paddling in the sea. Teachers noted how the visit helped students appreciate coastal environments while enjoying team-building activities in the sunshine.

“It was amazing to have so much space to run around,” said one pupil. “The sea was freezing, but we loved it!”

The adventure continued at the iconic Great Orme in Llandudno, where pupils took in panoramic views stretching across the Irish Sea. The visit provided an opportunity to learn about local history and wildlife, including the famous Kashmiri goats that roam the headland. The group also experienced the thrill of travelling up the limestone headland, sparking excitement and curiosity about the region’s geography.

One of the most talked-about activities was a caving expedition, where pupils ventured underground to explore natural cave systems. Equipped with helmets and headlamps, the young explorers navigated narrow passages and dark chambers, building resilience and confidence along the way. For many, it was their first time experiencing such an environment.

Back above ground, the excitement didn’t stop. Pupils were treated to a high-speed ride on the forest coaster, weaving through woodland on a twisting track. Laughter and cheers echoed through the trees as pupils controlled their own speed, making the ride both thrilling and safe.

To round off their experience, the group took part in a treetop walk, navigating rope bridges and platforms high among the trees. This activity challenged balance, coordination, and teamwork, with pupils encouraging one another to keep going.

Teachers praised the children’s behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the trip. “They showed incredible resilience, supported each other, and embraced every new challenge,” one staff member said. “It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow.”

The residential not only offered an exciting escape but also reinforced important life skills, including independence, collaboration, and problem-solving. As the pupils returned home, tired but smiling, it was clear that the memories made in Eryri will last a lifetime.
