5LH were invited to plant trees at Smith's Wood Secondary School to help the environment whilst providing a natural cover for bordering fences. Year 5 have been looking at deforestation in their Literacy lessons. What a pertinent way to spend the afternoon!
Disney Mania landed in Year 2 on Monday! There was a sea of colour and magic across the year group, from Mary Poppins to Pinocchio! The children experienced a typical day in Disney Land - working out timings of the day in the Theme Park for Maths, writing their own Disney Poem in Guided Reading and then writing instructions for a Disney Parade in Literacy. The afternoon did not disappoint, the children designed and made Mickey Mouse ears that they then wore for our very own Disney Parade they took part in on the KS1 Playground. What a fantastic day we all had! 🏰

Last Friday, Year 4 had an exciting visit from the West Midlands Fire Service, who taught them all about fire safety, water safety, and the lifesaving "Stop, Drop, and Roll" technique. The firefighters explained how to stay safe at home and near water, highlighting how to keep safe in your home and the importance of smoke alarms. They also demonstrated how to react if clothes catch fire, with every student practicing the "Stop, Drop, and Roll" method. To top it off, the children got to see a real fire engine up close, learning how firefighters use it in emergencies. Thank you to the West Midlands Fire Service for coming in - what a fantastic learning experience!

Each week, during our Friday Achievement assembly, we celebrate our ‘Pupils of the Week’ from each year group. Pupils are recognised for this weekly award for a variety of reasons and are nominated by their class teacher. They may have excelled in a particular subject through the week; may have shown one, or more, of the school values in abundance, or they may have impressed their teacher, or other staff members with a huge amount of effort. Whatever they are nominated for, they are recognised in the whole school achievement assembly, receive a certificate to take home and get to wear one of our prestigious black and gold t-shirts.
During the assembly, we also celebrate children who have 100% attendance for the week and have been in school every day on time. A lucky dip, of all children who are eligible takes place, and one pupil walks away with £5 to spend on whatever they want, Standards and presentation of a child’s book, chosen at random, are also reviewed and celebrated with the school and the child, whose book has been chosen, has the chance to win a dip out of the basket of goodies, as long as they have used their best handwriting every day, completed their feed forward marking and taken care in the presentation of their date and learning objective. We are extremely proud of all of the efforts of our pupils and the Friday Achievement assembly recognises this pride.

Last night, our bravest and smartest year 6 children took to the 4D room for our inaugural game of the Weakest Link. Questions were flying and hopes were high for a big score from our contestants! Despite some brilliant general knowledge and some fantastic determination, our quiz champions stumbled at several key points to bank the built-up points, leaving our head-to-head combatants with a winning total of 120 house points!
The final head to head was fierce with some very tricky questions. Despite a rocky start, Hulk House's own Jaiden rose to the occasion, bringing home both the victory and the points!
Well done to Jaiden and everyone who entered

Yesterday, our Year 1's visited Tamworth Castle! We had an amazing fun-filled day, where we got to walk around and experience a real-life castle. We got to meet the Lady and prepare a feast for the Lord; find the knight's armour and prepared for a battle! The children were an absolute credit to the school and showed impeccable behaviour throughout the day, as well as share knowledge they have learnt over the last half-term; complemented by members of the public and staff. We made lots of lovely memories to end the year on - what a fabulous day!
