Science Curriculum Intent

The Science curriculum at Smith's Wood Primary Academy inspires, challenges and encourages children; enabling them to become inquisitive, build their investigational skills and develop a deeper understanding of the wider world they live in. Science at Smith’s Wood embodies a range of curriculum areas such as Maths, Literacy and Design and Technology.

Our Science curriculum gives our pupils the opportunities to develop their skills and understanding when setting up, carrying out an investigation and presenting their findings – becoming real scientists themselves. Through scientific discussions and enquiry, our pupils enhance their ability to use a range of scientific language. The understanding they gain flows through the entire curriculum helping them to understand how science impacts every aspect of their life.
